Non-formal Education for Peace: Training Leaders of Youth and Student Organizations
19 leaders of student and youth organizations, educators and educational administrators from 12 countries and 4 continents participated in this course. The course had four basic objectives:
1. To provide participants with a broad and interdisciplinary understanding of the role of civil society and NGOs and particularly of youth and student-focused organizations in social and economic life,and of their potential contribution to conflict resolution and to post-conflict sustainable human development.
2. To examine modes and methods of democratic, non-formal education, and participatory approaches through which this potential can be realized.
3. To provide skills training in methods of communication, democratic leadership, and use of spoken, written and information technology resources.
4. To enable participants to prepare concrete projects relevant to their own work at home, and to form effective networks for future cooperation.
The program had 5 main sections:
1. The first was devoted to the creation of a common framework of approach, through mutual introductionsof participants, their organizations and countries and then through the study and analysis of the process of social change, of the nature of civil society and of its role in conflict resolution.
2. The second section looked at the role of non-formal education in the furtherance of peace and in dealing with such issues as the changes in cultural attitudes and in perception of the “other”, essential elements in long-range conflict resolution.
3. The third section emphasized the use of information and communication methodologies, the enhancement of leadership capabilities and the nature of democratic leadership in civil society organizations.
4. The last section focused on the preparation of projects, which were presented, discussed and analyzed.
5. Study visits to Israeli institutions and organizations, meetings with Israeli counterparts, and tours to places of historical and religious interest.

Private Sector Leadership Development Program for South Africans ( in cooperation with 'He'Atid' S.A.)
This leadership development program was designed to provide participants with the background and skills required to engage in leadership roles in the community, the work environment, and society. It had three major goals:
1. To assist participants in identifying personal and professional visions that define their developmental path as leaders.
2. To enhance participants' ability to formulate an understanding as to how personal and contextual opportunities intertwine, promoting a sense of empowerment that can be transformed into leadership opportunities.
3. To assist participants in developing strategies that enable them to promote development in their societies, communities and work environments, upon return to South Africa.

Paths to Development: The Israeli Experience: a Program for South African Leaders in the Public Sector (in cooperation with He'Atid S.A.)
This program was designed for senior ANC representatives in government and leadership positions. It drew on Israeli experiences and South African post-Apartheid reality in the spheres of agriculture, business, education and governance. Participants shared their experiences in shaping a society based upon principles of truth, reconciliation and peace building. The program aimed to create on-going relationships between the leaders and their counterparts within Israel as the basis for future joint endeavors.
