Volunteerism is a right: Volunteerism in Arab Society, was the topic of a multi-organization conference held on Wednesday, the 18th of June in Beer Sheva. This was the fourth national conference to be held on this topic and was co-sponsored by NISPED-AJEEC, Altufula, Eben Chaldoun, the Regional Council for the Unrecognized Villages, The Hura Regional Council, and Beldana.
During the day, presenters focused on different models of volunteerism that are being used throughout the country, especially looking at government-Arab society relations. A number of questions concerning the challenges facing the volunteer programs were raised and will be further explored during the coming year.
Approximately 200 people participated: academics, heads of local authorities, directors of social organizations and volunteers. The conference opened with a special thanks to all of the volunteers from NISPED-AJEEC: the Jewish-Arab Year of Community Service, Taliyah, the Youth Movement and the volunteer project of the university and college students.
