Shmuel Bahat, economic and strategic consultant, is the Chairman and chief trainer of The International Center for the Promotion of Small and Medium Enterprises (INCEP-SME), a division of NISPED. He is also a Senior Adviser to WASME - World Association for Small and Medium Enterprises.
In the early 1990s, Mr. Bahat was the founder and the first Chairman and CEO of the Israel Small and Medium Enterprise Authority (ISMEA) - a joint government – private sector endeavor. Mr. Bahat has served on the Boards of Directors of many firms, including insurance companies, banks, industrial and tourism companies, the Israel Export Institute and more, and was the Chairman of the Board of the Yahav Bank. Before becoming an independent consultant, Mr. Bahat served for many years as a member of the Executive Bureau of the General Federation of Labor in Israel (HISTADRUT), where he headed a number of departments and committees and represented the federation in international organisations and conferences.
Mr. Bahat is and was active in a number of academic and public organizations. For 30 years, he was a member of the Executive Board of Tel Aviv University and is a member of council of “Young Entrepreneurs”.
Mr. Bahat holds a Masters degree (cum laude) in Social Sciences, from Tel-Aviv University and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics & International Relations from the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. He is the author of many articles and has presented many papers in international conferences.
Mr. Bahat is married to Esther, a senior lecturer at Tel Aviv University. He has three children and three grandchildren.
